Commission a Portrait

I create acrylic portraits on canvas or canvas panels that honor legacy through storytelling and detail. To make the process simple and stress-free, here’s exactly how commissions work from start to finish.

Option 1: Legacy Portrait

A classic portrait with a clean, timeless presentation. Ideal for collectors, gifts, and home/office display.

Option 2: Heritage Portrait

A premium storytelling portrait that may include meaningful historical context, symbolic details, or a more developed setting.

Available Portrait Sizes

  • 11 x 14

  • 16 x 20

  • 20 x 24

  • 24 x 30

  • 30 x 40

Step-by-Step Commission Process

Step 1: Inquiry Form

Start by submitting
a commission inquiry with:

  • Your preferred option (Legacy or Heritage)
  • Your preferred size
  • The subject (historical figure, legacy concept, or personal portrait)
  • Deadline (if any)
  • Any ideas for background, symbols, colors,
    or mood

You’ll receive a reply within 1–3 business days with availability, pricing, and next steps.

Step 2: Choose Your Commission Tier + Size

Once I review your request, we’ll confirm:

  • Tier: Legacy Portrait or Heritage Portrait

  • Size: your preferred canvas/panel size

  • Background level: simple/classic or storytelling (symbols/setting)

I’ll provide a clear quote and timeline before anything begins.

Step 3: Reserve Your Slot (Deposit + Agreement)

To book your commission:

  • A 50% deposit is required to reserve your slot.
  • You’ll receive a simple commission agreement covering: timeline, usage, and delivery.

The remaining balance is due before delivery/shipping
(or at pickup).

Step 4: Research + Concept Planning (Historical Focus)

For historical portraits, I may do a short research phase to ensure accuracy and respectful storytelling, including:

  • reference selection (era-appropriate)

  • symbolism/background ideas

  • mood/color palette direction

If you have specific themes or details you want included, we confirm them here.

Step 5: Sketch Approval

You’ll receive a sketch/mockup for approval before I begin painting.

You can request adjustments at this stage (example: pose, placement, background elements). Once approved, I move into painting.

Step 6: Painting Begins + Progress Updates

I begin painting your portrait in acrylic on canvas or canvas panel.

Depending on your tier, you’ll receive:

  • 1 progress update (Legacy Portrait)
    or
  • 2 progress updates (Heritage Portrait)

This keeps you involved while still allowing the artwork to develop naturally.

Step 7: Final Review + Completion

When the piece is complete, I’ll send final photos for confirmation. Minor finishing touches are included.

Then I apply final protective finishing (as needed) and prepare for delivery.

Step 8: Final Payment

The remaining balance is due after completion and before shipping/delivery.

Accepted payment methods:

Visa, Master Card, American Express,  Venmo, CashApp

Step 9: Delivery / Shipping / Pickup

You can choose:

  • Local Pickup (Mercer County Area)
    or
  • Local Delivery (if offered)
  • Shipping (packed securely)

Step 10: Aftercare + Display Tips

You’ll receive simple care instructions to help your artwork last for years:

  • Display placement tips
  • Cleaning guidance
  • framing recommendations
     (if applicable)

Estimated Timelines

  • Legacy Portrait: ~3–5 weeks

  • Heritage Portrait: ~5–8 weeks

(Timelines may vary based on size, complexity, and current commission schedule.)
